Early Christmas Gift to Myself

I've had the same laptop since 2000. A Dell Inspiron 3000 - Pentium II 233 Mhz, 4gb disk, 144mb RAM. At this point, it was little more than a portable serial console for accessing routers. It's on its 4th battery, one of the backlights is dead, and I've replaced the keyboard two times. Well, the 3000 is at its end. I finally bought myself a new laptop - this time, from Alienware:

Interview with Scott Miller on Duke Nukem Forever

Ah, "Duke Nukem Forever." The name has become synonymous with the term "vaporware." Nevertheless, an exclusive interview of Scott Miller just went online at YouGamers. Here's an excerpt:

They Have Arrived!!

My SCEPTRE 22" Widescreen LCD Monitors have arrived and man, do they look awesome side-by-side. I now have a total desktop space of 3360x1050. There is absolutely no noticeable video delay when playing games or moving windows. Even though the screen size is much bigger than my former 19" CRT's, I find I have so much more space on my desk now. HD movies run in full-screen without the black bars, too! Yep, definitely worth the money.

I want my L-C-D!

Well, I finally did it. I jumped into the world of LCD panels. I did the research, played with them at Costco, and read tons of reviews. The verdict? I ordered two (2) Sceptre x22wg-Gamer 22" widescreen displays. I run dual-head both at home and at the office, which I blame Klink for introducing me to. I couldn't stand the thought of having one LCD and one CRT. Eye-wink

Big Huge Games Announces New X-Box Live! Arcade Game

nVidia Announces Monthly Driver Updates

I had to read this twice when I saw it the first time. nVidia recently announced plans to release new versions of their ForceWare driver packages on a monthly basis instead of the current random releases few people notice unless they check their web site frequently. Here's the schedule they've announced:

Vista: 32bit or 64bit?

This week seems to be "Vista Week" here at MG. To continue the theme, we'll point to an article over at Dan's Data. With 64bit processors becoming more commonplace in home/home office computers, many consumers considering an upgrade to Windows Vista are tempted by the 64bit editions with the assumption of better support and faster performance. The reality is, the greater majority of the software and hardware device drivers are still living in a 32-bit world, and will likely remain that way for the foreseeable future.
