Electronic Arts has announced a planned public beta for the multiplayer mode of upcoming strategy title, Command & Conquer Generals.
The global beta, which will extend to 3,000 lucky gamers, will begin October 25, 2002, giving players the chance to play five of the game's missions as each of the three unique sides. Each side fights with vastly different tactics and weaponry, and players will be expected to take full advantage of their arsenals over the Internet test.
"Multiplay is a critical part of any RTS game and we're really looking forward to hearing from our fans on how to make the experience in Command & Conquer Generals even better," said Mark Skaggs, general manager of EA Pacific and executive in charge of production for the game. "The team has been working hard, and we're all excited for players to see the innovative multiplay features we've kept under wraps for the past six months."
Sign-ups will begin on October 10, 2002 at midnight PST for a mere 24 hours, through the game's official website.
